Movie Night!

This Saturday, August 20th, Kepler's will--for the first time ever!--screen a feature-length, independent film in the Roy Kepler Pavilion. Director Michealene Cristini Risley will introduce Tapestries of Hope, her new documentary about human rights activist Betty Makoni and the Girl Child Network in Zimbabwe.

This film wrestles with the violence and abuse that women and children face in the midst of Zimbabwe's struggles with HIV and AIDS. It introduces us to Betty Makoni, whose work with the Girl Child Network seeks to protect and empower girls who have been victims of traumatic crimes, and offers a glimpse of the inspirational spirit and courage of people who are forging hope despite overwhelming odds.
